After an incredible 2025 season, the bar was set high for this season. We would have been thrilled with anything close to similar results in 2026, but we are not surprised that this season has been every bit as successful, if not better. This is a truly special place, and the exceptional habitat and game management continue to surpass even our loftiest expectations.
This hunt has historically been our highest rated adventure, and it just keeps getting better. The outfitter continues to reinvest in the property, lodge, and staff, raising the bar even higher. New Zealand truly is a hunting paradise. Openings are few and far between, so do not wait too long if this adventure is on your list. Perhaps nowhere else do we have such consistently superlative reviews. This is one of our absolute favorite destinations to send our clients to. The reasons are many, but at the top of the list is that they always come back and thank us for an unforgettable experience. This 5th-generation owner runs fair-chase Red Stag hunts from a well-appointed lodge in a large forested landscape encompassing nearly 10,000 acres, surrounded by another 200,000 acres of lush wilderness. Hunting is spot and stalk, and travel is by ATV. Some areas of the property will push you physically, but they are very accommodating to all ages and physical abilities.
You will enjoy a beautiful lodge setting with 360-degree views of the vast territory. While not necessary, the lodge is being upgraded as you read this. Meals are prepared by the executive lodge chef, including mouth-watering seafood and local favorites, and they are always paired with fine New Zealand wine or your favorite beer or soft drinks. Exquisite desserts round out the dining experience each evening. An abundance of custom tour options exist on both islands and can be added to make this a true hunting vacation. This is a terrific place to bring your spouse; in fact, we highly recommend this as a couples trip. Hunting is action-packed, and this is also a very doable archery hunt. High-quality rifles with suppressors and premium optics are available in camp to make travel a cinch. When not hunting, you can enjoy a plethora of activities. Shoot skeet right from the deck, practice at long range with premium suppressed rifles, star gaze through a Celestron telescope; there is even a golf range/chipping green on site. They are constantly trying to add to the experience. Last but certainly not least, the entire staff is top-notch, and they are genuinely interested in making this the best experience it can be.
Additional animals available for harvest include Rusa, Fallow, Arapawa Sheep, South Pacific Goat, and Water Buffalo. Fishing adventures are also a possible add-on. The most popular additions are the Tahr and Chamois, which are hunted on the South Island by helicopter or on foot. We can put that together for you with ease; daily connections between Auckland and Queenstown make this doable. Even if you didn’t hunt the South Island, visiting is a must. These dates are prime for the alpine hunts with the best fur of the year. Prices for additional animals are published with no hidden fees and no surprises.
